Typically, we meet people by appointment at Cleaver Firearms in Margate, Tue-Sat during Cleaver Firearms business hours.
If this is not possible due to your location, we can pick up from you if you are within 100km of Brisbane (fees apply). Alternatively, you can post your firearm/s directly to us through Australia Post (registered only) or via another dealer within QLD. You would have to contact your local firearms dealer for costs associated with them transferring to us.
We do offer occasional pickup from rural locations for a fee, particularly between Toowoomba and St George and surrounds, if you require this, please contact us to discuss your situation and what fees might be applicable.
You can bring your firearm/s with you if you are driving or flying (check with airline regulations) to put them into storage with us.
Alternatively, you can send your firearm/s via a dealer in your state or territory, or in some rural areas your local police station to us. Please contact us to arrange this as we will need to provide you details to give to the dealer or police for them to transfer to us. You would need to contact your local dealer to find out costs for them to do that.
Yes, we arrange and pick up your firearm/s directly from QPS for you. We charge $300 for up to 10 firearms and $450 for 11 or more. We pick up from all QPS within 100km of Brisbane for this fee, other stations within QLD may attract further fees depending on location. If you are outside the Brisbane metro (100kms) area and your firearms are with QPS please contact us to discuss how we can help.
We have dealer level secure storage based on the Northside of Brisbane that is temperature and humidity controlled with 24/7 security monitoring.
We store categories A, B, C, D, E, H & M. We cannot store category R weapons but can refer you places that can.
Yes, we can store up to 5kgs per customer at no extra charge, but each KG over that is $5/month.
We cannot store powder.
We prefer them to be as it helps protect them whilst they are in storage, at the very least gun socks are sufficient. If you do not have sufficient bags or cases for all your firearms, we can temporarily provide them for transport to our storage, but they will be stored out of the bag or case.
Yes, however it will only cover upto $300 per firearm. We recommend you have your own insurance if your firearm is worth more than this.
We offer regular basic cleaning for an extra charge. If you know your firearm/s might be in storage for a longer period, we recommend you fully clean and oil them prior us storing them.
You can also have them cleaned and prepped for storage at Cleaver Firearms (contact them for pricing) and we can pick them up directly from there when they are ready.
Indefinitely, as long as you pay your bill, we will store them.
Yes we can, you will just need to list us as your secure storage location on your application, and we will provide you a letter to give Weapons Licensing with your application.
Any firearm/s listed under your license whilst we are acting as your secure storage must be stored with us, until you change your secure storage location with Weapons Licensing.
At this stage we do not offer ‘casual’ storage. There are some circumstances where we may be allowed to by law to release firearms out of storage temporarily, however it is not done regularly. You can discuss this with us, and we will be able to advise if it will be possible.
In most cases a valid QLD Weapons License and a PTA or Dealer Release Letter. If you have had them in storage whilst you are on holidays or moving house we can give them back to you without a PTA or DLR, providing your QLD weapons license is still valid and the license number and/or conditions have not changed.
A dealer release letter is what Weapons Licensing will provide you when your license renewal is approved, this authorises us to release your firearms to you, without you having to get a PTA for them. You must provide us with the Dealer Release Letter before collecting your firearms and all firearm/s details must be correct on it.
We are willing to work with you so that you can keep on top of your storage fees. However, if you do not pay your bill for more than 3 consecutive months and we cannot get hold of you or your alternative contact, we reserve the right to sell any firearms you have with us to cover any overdue fees.
If you would like to sell your firearm for any reason whilst it is still in storage with us, we can get a quote to do so through our partner firearms dealers. If you choose to go ahead with the sale, we arrange for the firearm to be transferred to them and deposit the money directly into your account (less any fees that may be due).
We can also facilitate the transfer if you sell or give away your firearm/s privately. You can have the new owner contact us to either take over paying for storage, or have the firearm released to them providing they have a valid QLD weapons license and a PTA. If they are interstate and want to take the firearm/s out of storage, they will need to arrange for us to send it to a firearms dealer local to them.
You can keep them in storage with us for as long as required for you to try and get your license, sell your firearm/s or transfer them to someone else. We can sell the firearms on your behalf to one of our partner dealers and deposit the money directly to your bank account (less any storage fees owing, if any), or you can arrange the sale privately.
No, we are not, however they are our preferred partner dealer and refer all storage enquiries to us.
Yes they can, and if you cannot be present for the appointment, we can email you the storage application form to fill out and send back to us. If your weapons license is expired or has been revoked, the person your firearms are with must transport them to us, providing they hold a valid weapons license for the categories of the firearms.
Yes, under QLD law you are allowed to transport the firearm/s to a dealer to be handed in, sold or stored. You must have contacted us and made an appointment before you transport them and must come directly to that appointment. We can also advise on what steps are required if you are going to apply for a license so you can keep the firearm/s.
Yes we do, please contact us to arrange an appointment to hand it in.
